Short-Term Teams
Pack your bags! Throughout the year we send teams of volunteers to serve on the mission field with us. No professional training is necessary; only a heart to serve and desire to share the love of Christ are required.
Each participant will minister through a 5 day outreach and have the opportunity to participate in a photo safari at Shikwaru, our ministry partner’s safari game lodge. You will also have the opportunity to go on a safari at a big 5 game farm at Entabeni Safaris. They also have a world class golf course for those interested, you can find out more by visiting Lengends Resort. Our current short term trip dates are listed below on the trip calendar.
To apply for a trip, simply send in your completed trip application form along with a $500 non-refundable deposit by the corresponding deadlines. Applications are available on this site or by calling our offices at (515)343-5920. A valid passport is required for travel outside of the United States. A list of frequently asked questions about going on one of our trips is available on our FAQs about trips page.

Long-term Ambassadors
Interested in more than short-term? We have volunteers who feel called to serve on the mission field with us for more than our 13 day short-term experience. Our long-term missionaries, called Ambassadors of God’s Love, commit 9 months of a year to living and working on the mission field.
Each Ambassador is responsible for raising his/her own support to live and minister on the field. If you are interested in serving long-term with us, please contact our offices for more information on the application process and opportunities currently available.
INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH
The following steps must be completed in order to be a participant in a Blessman Ministries International Outreach. All applications are reviewed and considered on a case by case basis. You are not guaranteed a space on the team until your application is approved.
Step 1
Submit the following items to Blessman Ministries, Inc. (BMI):
- Completed Application
- Completed Background Check Authorization Form
- $500 nonrefundable deposit (checks should be made to Blessman Ministries, Inc. for other payment options please click here)
- Color copy of your passport’s photo page (if you are in the process of applying for your passport please make a note on your application and send your copy as soon as your passport arrives, this can be scanned and emailed to office@blessmanministries.org)
- A photo of yourself (Please email your photo to office@blessmanministries.org, if you don’t have email access please attach your photo to your application.)
Step 2
Once we have received all of your items from step one we will send you notice of your acceptance or denial via email (or postal mail if you don’t have email) within two weeks. During those two weeks we will process your background check and then the BMI staff will review your application. Most applications are approved, however BMI reserves the right to deny any application.
Denied Applications
A few reasons team members might be denied are: the trip you have signed up for is already full, a red flag came up on your background check, you don’t meet the medical/health requirements for the trip (see medical/health requirements attached to the application), etc. The reason for your denial will be included in your letter of denial, all decisions are final. If your application is denied your deposit will be refunded to you less any fees incurred during the processing of your application. If your application is denied because the trip you applied for is full, you will be given the option to transfer your deposit to an open trip.
Approved Applications
Once your application has been approved your $500 deposit is non-refundable. For other trip tuition policies please see the Trip Tuition Policy. Along with your letter of approval you will receive more information in the mail including an assumption of risk/election of insurance form, a sample fundraising letter, a team covenant form, and payment schedule. Please read through the information carefully and respond as instructed in the letter.
